The last victim lay, crushed and eviscerated, beneath her second floor balcony. A red trail led up her trellis. Shed fur and nails clumped upon her chamber floor. She sat, quill to parchment. Blood dripped from her jaws to stain the paper and foul the feathers pinched in her fingers as she wrote:

I Would Cease…

I would that this renegade heart
Cease within my breast
That I might be free of its permanent pain

I would that this severed soul
Cease its tattered bleeding
That I might be free of this venom not my own

I would that I not be this beast,
Cease to be that, which I most despise,
That I might not suffer such sanguine savagery

I would that I had died when he left me,
Cease in my quest for life
For in the blessed death of sleep I would be free

I would live this life no more
Cease the slaughter I embraced
For alive, alone, my heart howls in silence

I would cease…

OH baby - so good and so wickedly sad...

I have lived at work these last 3 1/2 days. Sigh... I wanna go home for more than 4 hours.

Love you - and happy day smiles and hugs abounding.

Bernita~ Thanks!! :)

Candice~ deep, dark, haunting -- yup that's me! Beautiful? Well, that's up for discussion. But in the writing, yes, I think, beauty has many guises.

Lady M~ Damn sucky hours there, Girlfriend! I'm glad you took time in that busy schedule to stop by!

*hugs back!

Stunning. Lyrical and yes, heart and soul-wrenching. May you muse continue to whisper.

Alex~
Thanks, Hun.

The muse doth whisper,
in velvet voice
with a touch of violence
To heed is my choice
to deny, my peril...

Oooh Savvy - Idea.... Idea...

A whole story about Sariah or "you name her/him/it" done in prose...

Paranormal - story in prose like that.

OOooh - that would be very literary cool.

OK - slaps self back to reality - IT IS MY FRIDAY!!!!

Hugs

Intriguing thought, to be sure, M! Lyrical, sweeping, sensual, visceral... I could DO that!

Loves ya!

"upon the hundredth full moon" is the thrilling clincher.
But you knew that.

LOL, Bernita. You know me well... Emotinal, visceral writing yet also calculated.
